We currently have an opening for an experienced SATELLITE SYSTEMS ENGINEER at our Burnaby, BC location. In this full-time, on-site position, you will be part of the Engineering team responsible for our frequency converter products used in satellite communications systems.

Applicants must be eligible for registration with EGBC and must pass a government security screening and be required to meet eligibility requirements for access to controlled goods requiring a security clearance.

 

Job Summary:

  • Create and maintain project artifacts including, but not limited to, charters, schedules, scopes, work breakdown structures, budgets, risk registers, requirements, and specifications.
  • Track, maintain, report on and re-baseline schedules, budgets, and scopes.
  • Participate in new product development and custom design projects.
  • Prepare test plans and procedures for NPI, custom designs and production support.
  • Test and troubleshoot prototype and production assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  • Support the construction and development of Automatic Test Equipment workstations.
  • Support Sales in developing RFPs and Quotes.
  • Support Production as a technical resource.

Mandatory Skills

  • Proficiency in project management practices and techniques;
  • Proficiency in project management tools for scheduling, budgeting, scope, and quality tracking;
  • Demonstrated skills in technical documentation;
  • Experience in structured development such as automotive, aerospace, medical products;
  • Knowledge of electronics (RF/microwave) design and test practices;
  • Knowledge of CAD software such as Altium, SolidWorks or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of RF/microwave instruments such as a spectrum analyzer and network analyzer and test instruments such as oscilloscope, signal generator, data logger;
  • Knowledge of Python, C, C#, or similar programming/scripting languages;
  • Networking protocol such as TCP/IP, TLS, SNMP;
  • DSP or SDR design experience;
  • Rapid prototyping tools such as Arduino, RaspPi or equivalent;
  • Light machining such as milling, cutting, lathing, drilling, and grinding.

We currently have an opening for an experienced INSIDE SALES REPRESENTATIVE at our Burnaby, BC location. We are looking for an energetic and engaging individual to work full-time at our office in Burnaby.  This individual will work with the Sales Team focusing on customer service requests, managing order processing, as well as working with the Marketing Team.  The successful candidate must be detail-oriented and work well with co-workers in Marketing, Engineering and Production.

Job Summary:

  • Work directly with Orbital’s customer base.
  • Assist in working with current and prospective customers to organize backlog fulfillment, forecasting, pricing, and logistics.
  • Proactively manage opportunities through all stages of the sales cycle.
  • Update all sales activity in the corporate CRM system and prepare reports as required by management.
  • Source new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls and emails.
  • Research accounts, identify key players and share with appropriate Sales Executives to generate interest.
  • Work with account executives and Marketing team to promote Orbital’s products and services.
  • Responsible for the administration, organization, and participation of Orbital’s tradeshows.
  • Support general administrative duties as required by executive staff.

Mandatory Skills

  • Inside Sales experience;
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to understand the basic capabilities of the products being ordered;
  • Previous experience with distributor or manufacturer in order processing and/or sales of technical products in the commercial electronics or communications systems industry;

We currently have an opening for an experienced MICROWAVE DESIGN ENGINEER at our Burnaby, BC location. In this full-time, on-site position, you will be part of the Engineering team responsible for our frequency converter products used in satellite communications systems.

Job Summary:

  • Design and develop innovative RF circuits and new products for satellite communications that are higher performing than our competitors and can be manufactured in a cost-effective manner.
  • Provide engineering support for customizations of our existing products.
  • Provide on-going engineering support for manufacturing.
  • Ensure that the microwave engineering team documents their work in accordance with our Quality System.
  • Prepare highly effective design documentation for production purposes.
  • Develop plans and act as lead designer on product development projects and roadmaps.
  • Implement intellectual property strategies.
  • Continuously learn and be at the forefront of designing state-of-the-art RF and Microwave circuitry for Satellite Communications.

Mandatory Skills

  • Working knowledge of Matlab, Simulink, ADS., Genesys, Altium, Solidworks and other CAD tools;
  • Previous experience in telecom industry;
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, and C#;
  • Experience using automated test systems;
  • Trained or certified for IPC J-STD-001.

We currently have an opening for talented RF TECHNICIAN at our Burnaby, BC location. In this full-time, on-site, position, you will be part of a production team responsible for the tuning and testing of RF amplifiers and sub-assemblies used in satellite communications systems. We operate in a fast-paced environment building prototypes, custom designs and production products. Assignments may include performing final product testing and tuning of RF circuits using RF sweepers, RF power meters, vector network analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, environmental chambers, and vibration fixtures.

You will need at least two years of RF test and production experience, with demonstrated knowledge of microwave theory and practice. Other qualifications that will enable you to perform successfully in these positions include:

 

Skills that would be an advantage are:

  • Trained or certified for IPC J-STD-001;
  • Skilled with basic hand tools, and machinery such as drill presses, grinders, milling machines;
  • Knowledge of environmental test processes and equipment;
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++ and C#; and,
  • Experience developing automated test systems.

Mandatory Skills

  • Demonstrated experience with microwave test equipment;
  • Familiarity with laboratory protocols for handling sensitive components;
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to adapt to new and changing assignments;
  • Read and interpret test instructions, assembly instructions, and engineering drawings (schematics, mechanical drawings);
  • Effective communication skills to work effectively with team members, supervisors, and other employees;
  • Proficiency with PCs and Microsoft Office applications;
  • A diploma or certificate in electronics.
