Current Openings

We currently have an opening for talented RF TECHNICIAN at our Burnaby, BC location. In this full-time, on-site, position, you will be part of a production team responsible for the tuning and testing of RF amplifiers and sub-assemblies used in satellite communications systems. We operate in a fast-paced environment building prototypes, custom designs and production products. Assignments may include performing final product testing and tuning of RF circuits using RF sweepers, RF power meters, vector network analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, environmental chambers, and vibration fixtures.

You will need at least two years of RF test and production experience, with demonstrated knowledge of microwave theory and practice. Other qualifications that will enable you to perform successfully in these positions include:

 

Skills that would be an advantage are:

  • Trained or certified for IPC J-STD-001;
  • Skilled with basic hand tools, and machinery such as drill presses, grinders, milling machines;
  • Knowledge of environmental test processes and equipment;
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++ and C#; and,
  • Experience developing automated test systems.

Mandatory Skills

  • Demonstrated experience with microwave test equipment;
  • Familiarity with laboratory protocols for handling sensitive components;
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to adapt to new and changing assignments;
  • Read and interpret test instructions, assembly instructions, and engineering drawings (schematics, mechanical drawings);
  • Effective communication skills to work effectively with team members, supervisors, and other employees;
  • Proficiency with PCs and Microsoft Office applications;
  • A diploma or certificate in electronics.

We currently have an opening for talented PURCHASING COORDINATOR at our Burnaby, BC location. In this full-time, on-site position, you will be part of a production team responsible for obtaining quotes and negotiating prices with suppliers and vendors for inventory parts used in satellite communications systems. We operate in a fast-paced environment building prototypes, custom designs and production products. You will be comfortable generating purchase orders, following up with delivery from suppliers, performing cycle counts and reviewing inventory levels for reordering.

Other duties include:

  • Data entry for raw material movement
  • Support Operations by assisting with shipping/receiving goods and entering in the ERP system
  • Investigating and resolving invoice and receiving discrepancies
  • Communicates logistics, inventory. and customer service issues to management that will affect productivity and or customer service
  • Picking, counting and labeling parts for production
  • Working closely with in-bound/out-bound carriers to support customer, transportation and operational objectives
  • Performing other duties as required

 

Skills that would be an advantage are:

  • 1 – 2 years experience in purchasing;

We currently have an opening for an experienced QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR at our Burnaby, BC location. In this full-time, on-site position, you will be part of a production team responsible for our frequency converter products used in satellite communications systems.

Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Develops quality assurance plans by conducting risk analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.
  • Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
  • Perform inspection (SMT and Through-hole soldering) on all assemblies (Printed Circuit Board Assemblies) prior to shipping to customers
  • Ensure all assemblies meet IPC workmanship standards, ensure all components are placed correctly with missing parts identified.
  • Identify any Quality (manufacturing) issues and work with production teams to resolve them, prior to shipping to customer
  • Contribute to the maintenance and compliance of company SOP/Quality Management Systems.
  • Ensure all WOs are completed and comply with individual assembly specifications and company standards.
  • Ensure all WOs are completed on time, prior to customer requested ship dates
  • Administer internally or externally generated non-conformances, investigate causes for non-conformances and initiate team meetings to prevent non-conformances.
  • Coordinate calibration of test and measuring equipment.
  • Perform quality audits and work with supply chain for existing and new supplier audits and qualification.

Skills that would be an advantage:

The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of wireless technologies, SDR development, digital signal processing and embedded systems. The job requires the ability to interpret internal, customer and other specifications as well as industry standards to synthesize system requirements and architectures – and then to develop and implement solutions in simulations and target hardware.

You will require a good understanding of the entire protocol stack, including modern modulation techniques, error correction coding techniques and bit and packet-oriented communications protocols. Working closely with a multi-disciplined team of mechanical, hardware, RF, and firmware engineers, you will propose, design, implement, test, and deliver solutions.

 

Requirements

  • A detailed knowledge of the system trade space in software defined radios from the RF front end to back-end digital signal processing
  • Working knowledge of Matlab, Simulink and Xilinx System Generator or equivalent
  • A master’s degree or PhD in electrical/computer engineering
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Previous experience in the telecom industry with a working knowledge of SDR highly desired
  • Experience with hardware design of FPGA support boards
  • Experience in coherent digital demodulation of waveforms such as mPSK, APSK, QAM, etc.
  • Experience with high speed interfaces (e.g. PCIE, USB, SerDes, JESD204b, DDR4)
  • Relevant experience with hobbies or university design team

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of new or revised products
  • Algorithm development and testing using simulation tools such as Matlab and Simulink, GNU Radio or equivalent
  • Realization of DSP and SDR algorithms in FPGA platforms
